about VHS

Voluntary Health Services (VHS) hospital, established in 1958, is a 465 bedded multi-speciality tertiary teaching hospital. The hospital has a dedicated department working with vulnerable and marginalised communities to improve their health and economic status and advocates to secure human rights and create equal opportunities.

The Voluntary Health Services (VHS) based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. VHS is registered as a non-profit society under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860. The hospital was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India – Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Dr.M.S.Swaminathan, renowned Agricultural Scientist is the President of VHS.
